Well, at last I have managed to get the
timing of a book right. That’s surprising really because the first four months
of the year is a busy time for us. In my last blog though I said “Tapestry”
would be in the book stores and on Amazon in the spring and I was right. Mind
you, to paraphrase the Duke of Wellington, it was a close run thing.
The editing went as well as I expected,
although I did have to do some rewriting on one chapter. I was concerned about
finding the right cover picture too, but that proved easier than I thought it
would. Lastly there were a couple of small hitches with the printing process
and the conversion to Kindle but they’ve now been sorted and the book is out
there.
I guess everyone who works on a project for
some time gets that sense of achievement when it’s finished and it’s the same
for authors. I always love it when I hold a new book in my hands for the first
time, It’s nearly as good as the moment you see the first reviews on Amazon,
although I must confess. I’m a little nervous about those this time.
As I’ve said before, “Tapestry” is not like
my other novels. There are no super sleuths, not serial killer and, although it
is history it’s recent history. There are people still alive today who remember
these things and I wonder what they are going to have to say about this story
of three ordinary people growing up against the back ground of a world war.
